Fishing Charters on the Treasure Coast

Just visiting the Treasure Coast and would like to experience the outstanding Treasure Coast fishing? Booking a fishing charter with a professional fisherman is an effective choice.

Before you book however, you need to know some essential information.

Charter captains, both inshore (the Indian River) and off shore (the Atlantic Ocean), are among the most hard working, honest, and persistant people you will ever meet. And while they will "empty their tackle box" trying to catch fish, sometimes, for whatever obsure reason, the fish just don't cooperate. And as much as these fine captains would like to, no one can "guarantee" trophy fish every trip. Every captain absolutely abhors the thought of returning to dock without fish. That thought is what keeps the captains and crews working so hard.

Chartered trips usually target the much larger species of kingfish, dophin, sailfish, marlin, and grouper. Chartered trips usually host two to six anglers and strive to make the trip a personal experience.

Chartering a fishing captain is expensive. And it should be. You are not just paying for that day. You are paying for years of fishing experience. Your charter fee helps to pay for fuel, boat maintainence, saltwater fishing equipment (notoriously difficult to maintain), bait, tackle, crew, boat dockage, ice, and a host of other hidden expenses that make these trips once in a lifetime experiences. How much does it cost? Again, so many variables; but expect an offshore trip to cost between $500 and $900 per day. Inshore trips that target trout, snook, tarpon, and redfish may cost from $200 to $500.

You may also consider booking a place on an offshore "party" boat. These vessels carry 20 to 40 fisherman offshore to the 60' to 90' reefs where the fisherman bottom fish for snapper, red grunts, sea bass, triggerfish, and grouper. Party boats usually furnish the equipment, bait, and ice and offer a wonderful low cost alternative to the more expensive "chartered trips." Expect to pay between $30 and $60 for a day of party boat fishing on the Atlantic. Of course, the trade off is that you are not nearly as likely to catch "really big fish."
